Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Switch 2 port targets 60 fps with FSR frame gen

A Tokyo Game Show 2026 demo for the Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Switch 2 port revealed a surprise. Fans expected the open-world action RPG to target 30 fps, but the developers have added FSR frame generation. Following the lead of Stellar Blade, the Capcom game will offer 60 fps visuals on its October 9th release date.
FSR trickery
Japanese site V Jump Web spoke to director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama at the event. Oyama confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game employs the software feature to boost performance. The title renders new frames at 30 fps, with the AMD technology generating an extra frame in between.
Oyama is aware of the side effects of this technique, which essentially guesses when it creates the additional frame. Players may encounter visual artifacts or experience higher latency. That’s especially concerning during the frantic combat in the Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Switch 2 version.
For gamers worried about being at a disadvantage, there will be a toggle to disable the FSR 3.1 perk. Although the producer didn’t go into detail, he also said the studio had optimized performance to minimize input lag.
The publisher earlier indicated that the port aims for a 2K graphical output on the Nintendo console. Native resolutions in docked and handheld modes aren’t clear. Like other Capcom RE Engine projects, including Resident Evil Requiem, Dragon's Dogma 2 uses DLSS.
A growing trend
Considering how the open-world title stresses the PS5 and Xbox, frame gen and upscaling could be highly beneficial. Shift Up is taking a similar approach with Stellar Blade to hit 60 fps, slated to ship on November 5th. Otherwise, CPU-heavy scenes in both games threaten to strain Nintendo’s hardware.
On the Dragon's Dogma 2 Switch 2 release date, buyers gain access to the base game, previous content, and the Dark Arisen expansion. A separately paid add-on is also heading to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
