Clicks Communicator gets upgraded specs and new accessories ahead of December release

Back in January, Clicks, the brand behind the physical keyboard cases for select iPhones and Android smartphones, announced the Communicator as its first smartphone. Styled like a BlackBerry, the Android-powered smartphone has been in development since its announcement, with regular progress updates from the manufacturer.

Now, Clicks has shared new development updates regarding the phone and it reveals details about its specs, accessories, and services that will be available for the device. It has also provided a guide on how those who have made reservations can turn them into orders.

Starting with the specs, the Clicks Communicator will be getting upgrades in two major areas. First, the RAM has gotten a 50% increase as it has been bumped up from 8GB to 12GB. The battery capacity has also increased from 4,000mAh to 4,350mAh, and the new battery has over 800 charge cycles.

However, the original plan to use silicon-carbon batteries has been shelved in favor of lithium-ion batteries. According to the manufacturer, the reason for the switch is due to the higher rate of failure of silicon-carbon batteries in its testing, compared to lithium-ion batteries.

Clicks has also partnered with Dbrand on two accessories for the Communicator. There's the MNML case, which costs $39 and will be available in three colors, and the $34.95 Prism screen protector (2 pcs) that comes with a self-aligning installer tray.

The phone itself will be available in Smoke, Onyx, and Clover and buyers will be able to choose from 12 additional charging covers including two leather options. When placing your order, you will be able to see how the additional charging covers look on the color you chose for the phone.

Clicks will also be offering a protection + extended warranty service called Clicks Care for Communicator. It covers drops, liquid exposure, cracked displays, cracked camera lens, cracked housing, and button and port damage. If your device gets damaged, Clicks will ship a replacement Communicator to you ($49 deductible applies), so that you don't have to wait for your phone to get repaired. The service costs $129.99 for two years of coverage.

There will also be a service called Clicks Mobile that makes it easy for US and UK customers to add voice and data plans to their Communicator via an eSIM. Clicks says it will offer eligible customers 2 months of free voice and data service when they sign up for Clicks Mobile on the Communicator. The available plans and their respective prices will be revealed as the phone's release draws closer. The phone also has a nano SIM slot, so you can insert your physical SIM into it.

Clicks has reaffirmed that the Communicator will begin to ship in December 2026. Interested buyers can still purchase it now for $499 before it goes up to its MSRP of $649 on October 1.
