Dragon's Dogma 2 to get a fix for PC CPU performance issues soon
Dragon's Dogma fans had to wait for two console generations to play Dragon's Dogma 2 at a paltry 30 FPS on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X. Unfortunately, PC players are no better off as the game brings even the Ryzen 7 7800X3D to its knees in densely populated regions. Thankfully, the open world is relatively stable in comparison. Thankfully, Capcom is aware of the issue. In a statement to IGN, a company representative said the following:
In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate.
Dragon's Dogma 2 will almost certainly get a day-one patch when it drops on all platforms tomorrow (March 22). Whether or not it will fix the frame rate drop issue on PC remains to be seen. Interestingly, it is one of the first RE Engine games to perform poorly on PC, presumably due to the sheer scope of the game world.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is one of the more well-reviewed titles of 2024, with an average Metacritic score of 87. Nevertheless, you'd be better off waiting for a few performance fixes to arrive on your PC before committing to a purchase. While the game supports DLSS 3.0 launch, there's no word about when FSR 3.0 and XeSS support will arrive.
