Aoostar GOD77 review - Mini-PC with lighting effects and AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS in an eye-catching cyberpunk case
The Aoostar is a Chinese system manufacturer that was founded in 2013. As a mini-PC manufacturer, the company also owns brands such as T-BAO, Tianbao, Tianbei, and SkyBarium. The Aoostar GOD77 is a mini-PC that is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS. In our test configuration, the compact PC offers 16 GB DDR5 RAM and a 512 GB SSD. The device is currently changing hands for a price of 419 US dollars. Alternatively, the GOD77 can also be ordered with 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD. However, the price is therefore higher at 499 US dollars, although a barebone version is also available for 349 US dollars. In terms of price, the manufacturer is thus aligning itself with the competition. We will now take a closer look at the performance. We have compiled a list of the competitors for this review in the following table.

Aoostar GOD77 with AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS in detail
Case - Lots of plastic with optional RGB lighting
Visually, the Aoostar GOD77 is one of those mini-PCs that impress with their appearance. Aoostar installs the hardware of the GOD77 in a fairly compact housing with an unconventional cyberpunk style. However, the manufacturer relies entirely on plastic for the choice of materials. Haptically, the GOD77 looks a little cheaper than a Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX or the Morefine M600. In terms of stability, however, the case is convincing. The case lid and the underside can be bent with a little effort, which is also accompanied by acoustic creaking noises. However, nothing could be heard as the case warmed up and cooled down in everyday use. Aoostar also offers the GOD77 in a white version, which looks more like a shade of gray in the manufacturer's pictures. RGB fans will get their money's worth with the Aoostar GOD77, as the installed CPU fan on the top is equipped with this function. The various effects can be switched via a button on the front of the device. If you don't like the lighting, you can also deactivate it completely.
In terms of space requirements, our test sample ranks in the middle of the field. At 13 x 13.4 centimeters, the device is not particularly small, but does not appear bulky either. In terms of weight, we measured 603 grams, which is slightly lighter than the other devices in the test.
Equipment - Modern selection including USB4
The Aoostar GOD77 has a good selection of external interfaces, which are spread across the front and rear. There are a total of five USB ports, of which the Type-C on the front with USB4 is the most modern interface. This allows external graphics cards to be used, among other things. In the test, we take a look at the performance in conjunction with the GPD G1 (eGPU with AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT). Screens can be connected via HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C. Even 4K with 144 Hz is possible, which is currently not standard for many mini-PCs.
Communication
Aoostar uses an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 module for the wireless connections on the GOD77. The WLAN module can operate in the 2.4 GHz as well as the 5 GHz frequency band. We measured excellent rates in our test. Our test sample took first place in terms of both sending and receiving rates. Only the Minisforum Neptune Series NAD9 can keep up here and take second place by a small margin. We carried out the test with our Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 test router. As an alternative to the wireless connection, the Aoostar GOD77 also offers two LAN ports. However, only one of them supports a transmission speed of up to 2.5 GBit/s, while the second port only achieves 1 GBit/s.
Scope of delivery
The box contains the Aoostar GOD77 itself as well as the 100-watt power supply unit to get the mini-PC up and running. The manufacturer also supplies an HDMI cable and a power cable. A ribbon cable for the connection of a 2.5-inch storage drive is also included.
Maintenance
Given that Aoostar sells the GOD77 as a barebone system even without RAM and SSD, the fact that the screws for removing the base cover are hidden under glued-on rubber feet is not user-friendly. After unscrewing the four screws on the underside, the cover can be easily removed. The RAM and SSD are easily accessible, although the WLAN module is also easy to access as it is located directly under the SSD. Aoostar installed a relatively small fan between the RAM and SSD in our test sample. If a 2.5-inch storage is to be installed, the fan must first be removed.
The top cover of the Aoostar GOD77 can also be easily removed. It is also only fixed in place with four screws. Underneath, however, there is only the relatively large fan, which also has RGB lighting. The full-surface CPU cooler can also be seen.
Performance - AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS based on Zen 3+
The AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS with its 8 cores and 16 threads and the Zen 3+ architecture is far from being a thing of the past. After all, thanks to the AMD Radeon 680M, the SoC offers a powerful iGPU that can also handle many games. With 16 GB of RAM, the Aoostar GOD77 is equipped to an average standard. The same applies to the mass storage, which has 512 GB of storage space. However, Aoostar also offers the GOD77 with 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD ex-works.
Test conditions
All performance tests were carried out with the maximum
power plan. We did not change the power limits with regard to the power consumption of the SoC, but left them in the factory settings according to the BIOS settings. Energy-saving plans were only used for the energy consumption measurements and the noise measurements according to our Test criteria.
Processor
The processor used by Aoostar in the GOD77 is the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, which combines 8 cores and 16 threads. With a maximum power consumption of 54 watts, the SoC can use its full power. In comparison, this is enough for a good third place in the performance rating. In comparison to the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX in the Geekom AS 6, the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS in our test sample comes out on top by a minimal margin. However, there is no noticeable difference in everyday use. Much more interesting is the direct comparison with the Maxtang MTN-FP750, as this mini-PC is equipped with the same processor. Nevertheless, the Aoostar GOD77 achieves significantly better performance in all benchmarks, which is also due to the RAM configuration. Aoostar installs two DDR5 memory modules in the GOD77, although only one module is installed in the Maxtang MTN-FP750.
As a result, our test sample can also impress with good results in the AIDA64 benchmarks. A solid second place is the result here. Nevertheless, the gap to the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX is already relatively large at 39 percent.

Aoostar GOD77 vs. Cinebench R15 multi-loop
The Cinebench R15 continuous loop is a real challenge for the cooling unit. The monitoring data shows that the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS only reaches the maximum 54 watts for a very short time. Over a longer period of time, the power has to be throttled to around 43 watts. However, at 86.1 °C, the SoC does not yet reach the critical range here. The Aoostar GOD77 can once again secure a good second place compared to its competitors. The stable performance of the processor should be emphasized positively.
System performance
The system performance of the Aoostar GOD77 compares extremely well with the CPU benchmarks: In PCMark 10, it once again achieves a good second place. Only the Minisforum Elitemini UM780 XT is slightly better due to its significantly faster and more modern SoC. When comparing the Crossmark results, our test sample slips into the midfield. As we have often seen, Intel systems have an advantage here. As a result, the Minisforum Neptune Series NAD9 and also the Geekom Mini IT12 are ahead of the Aoostar GOD77.
In the RAM tests, our test device also has to admit defeat to some of its competitors. Aoostar only installs DDR5 RAM with 4,800 MT/s, although the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS can also handle faster RAM. According to AMD, the SoC supports memory at 6,400 MT/s.

Mass storage
The test sample in our test is based on the smallest configuration and therefore only has a 512 GB SSD. Nevertheless, a PCIe 4.0 model is installed, which achieves good results. However, the values are not very stable, as you can see from the continuous load scenario. After a short time, we notice a significant loss of performance. Although Aoostar installs a small fan on the underside, the loss of performance cannot be prevented under prolonged load. In addition, the fan has to give way if a second mass storage device (2.5-inch format) is to be installed.

Graphics card - AMD Radeon 680M as iGPU
The image output is handled by the AMD Radeon 680M on the Aoostar GOD77. As delivered, only 512 MB of the installed RAM is reserved for the iGPU. It would therefore make more sense to equip the system with 32 GB right away in order to immediately allocate more RAM to the iGPU. In a direct performance comparison, our test sample can still deliver good 3D performance. Again and again, we see the duel with the Geekom AS 6. There is noticeably more performance with the AMD Radeon 780M, which is the direct successor to the AMD Radeon 680M.

Gaming performance
Many games can be played with medium or even high details in 1080p. However, we can't make a general statement about the performance of the AMD Radeon 680M. With slightly faster RAM and a larger memory allocation for the iGPU, the performance of the iGPU can certainly be increased somewhat. However, you should not expect a noticeable uplift. If you are looking for a mini-PC purely for gaming, you should look for devices with a dedicated graphics card. Examples include the Minisforum Neptune Series HX77G or the Acemagic Tank03. However, these devices are also considerably more expensive.
Another alternative would be the combination with an eGPU, as the Aoostar GOD77 has a USB4 interface. In the following section, we will look at the performance with the GPD G1 eGPU, which is equipped with an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT.

3D performance via eGPU with GPD G1 (AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT)
The Aoostar GOD77 has a USB4 port, which also supports external graphics cards. Together with the GPD G1 we carried out some synthetic tests and also tested several games to see what performance can be expected here. Due to the USB4 connection, the eGPU is only connected with four PCIe 3.0 lanes. And yet the 3D performance can be noticeably increased. With an OCuLink interface, the eGPU could have delivered even more performance in combination with the Aoostar GOD77. Using the external AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT (GPD G1), it is therefore possible to enjoy significantly more games with the mini-PC than with the iGPU.

Emissions - The Aoostar GOD77 can also be loud!
Noise emissions
In our volume measurements, the Aoostar GOD77 initially behaves quite inconspicuously. Nevertheless, the fans do not stand still even when idling, which is why we measured a sound pressure level of just under 32 dB(A). Under load and when gaming, the mini-PC is audible but quiet. During the stress test, however, the CPU fan really revs up. At well over 50 dB(A), our test sample is by far the loudest device in this comparison. On a positive note, the Aoostar GOD77 does not produce any high-frequency fan noise.

Temperature
There are two main areas of the case temperatures: on the one hand, there is the top, where fresh air is drawn in to cool the processor and blown out of the sides of the case. On the other hand, there is the underside, which has significantly higher surface temperatures. The peak value here is just under 48 °C in the stress test. Nevertheless, the top remains significantly cooler and there are only isolated hotspots on the mounting screws, as these are screwed directly into the heat sink.
The AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS reached just under 90 °C in our test, which is not critical, but represents a defined thermal limit set by the manufacturer. If the SoC reaches this value, the power consumption is reduced slightly. At just under 50 watts, the processor completed the stress test without high power losses, which is why the performance of the Cinebench R15 continuous loop was consistently stable.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 39.5 °C / 103 F, compared to the average of 35.5 °C / 96 F, ranging from 26 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(-) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 47.9 °C / 118 F, compared to the average of 36.9 °C / 98 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 29.3 °C / 85 F, compared to the device average of 32.2 °C / 90 F.
Power consumption
Unfortunately, the Aoostar GOD77 cannot convince with its low power consumption. Our measuring device shows approximately 8 to 12 watts at idle. Under average load, the power supply has to deliver just under 78 watts, although it reaches a good 93 watts at peaks. The comparison shows that the energy requirements are roughly comparable to those of the Minisforum UM780 XTX. The similarly equipped Maxtang MTN-FP750 is significantly more economical, but limits the SoC in terms of power consumption. The 100-watt power supply unit always delivers sufficient power and is never overloaded. Unlike most mini-PCs, the Aoostar GOD77 is supplied with power via USB-C.

Verdict - Good performance at a fair price
The Aoostar GOD77 is a compact PC and can cope with many tasks. The AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS offers sufficient performance and can primarily impress with its powerful iGPU. AMD is therefore currently superior to most Intel counterparts. Significant gains in terms of 3D performance are only possible with the Intel Meteor Lake. The Aoostar GOD77 is suitable for casual gamers. Nevertheless, we have a slight problem with the small equipment option, which only offers 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Fortunately, the RAM and mass storage can be swapped. Alternatively, you can also opt for a better configuration with 32 GB DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
The Aoostar GOD77 is an extravagant mini-PC that impresses with its performance and appearance. The successful selection of interfaces also ensures good future-proofing.
Visually, the Aoostar GOD77 definitely attracts attention: together with the RGB lighting, the mini-PC clearly stands out from the crowd and thus offers a clear recognition value. If you don't like the colorful lighting, you can also deactivate it. We like the manual control of the color scheme, as this means that the system is not unnecessarily burdened with questionable software. A positive highlight is the good connectivity, including USB4.
Emissions are a little lacking, as other devices are slightly better in terms of efficiency. And the noise level may also be a reason not to buy it. This can be improved somewhat by manually adjusting the fan speeds. However, peak performance will then suffer a little.
Prices and availability
Aoostar operates its own webshop. Here, the Aoostar GOD77 in our test configuration with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD can be ordered directly for 419 US dollars. A barebone version is also available in the store. This is currently priced at 349 US dollars.
