Bypass charging allows a phone to draw power directly from the charger instead of the battery. Available on several smartphones including those explicitly designed for gaming. This feature, which helps with better battery health, is often limited to CPU-intensive tasks such as gaming. However, that is about to change for some Oppo and OnePlus devices.
According to a video posted on Weibo by Oppo employee Shuai Lan, Oppo (and OnePlus) plans to release a feature that will allow users to enable bypass charging in all scenarios. This means that users will be able to enable it when doing simple tasks such as chatting with friends, watching videos, or browsing. It should also come in handy for those who use their phones for livestreaming.
Below is a list of Oppo and OnePlus devices that will receive the feature:
- OPPO Find X9 series
- OPPO Find X8 series
- OPPO Find X7 series
- OPPO Find N5
- OPPO Reno 14 series
- OPPO Reno 13 series
- OPPO Pad 5

- OnePlus 13T
- OnePlus 12
- OnePlus Ace 6

The source says the feature will be gradually rolled out to the aforementioned devices, which are running ColorOS 16. However, there's no information about the feature being made available to their global variants, some of which ship with OxygenOS.
