The tablet market is set to receive a new entry at the end of the year, as Oppo has confirmed that the Oppo Pad Air 5 will officially launch in China on December 25. A pre-order page is currently live on the Oppo Shop and gives us a look at the model's design and key specifications ahead of the formal announcement. This new tablet features a 2.8K resolution display and runs on ColorOS while drawing power from a large 10,050mAh battery.
These details strongly suggest the device is a rebranded version of the OnePlus Pad Go 2 that recently launched in other markets. Consequently, the tablet likely uses a 12.1-inch LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra chipset. The internal components should include LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage alongside support for 33W charging. You can also expect a quad-speaker setup for audio and face unlock for security.
Oppo lists the device in Space Gray, Starlight Powder, and Starlight Pink color options. You can choose between Wi-Fi-only and 5G versions, though the Wi-Fi model offers more variety with configurations including 8GB or 12GB of RAM paired with up to 256GB of storage. The 5G version appears more limited as the listing only shows a Space Gray model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Pad Air 5 replaces the Oppo Pad Air 2 from 2023, which also followed a similar strategy as a rebranded original OnePlus Pad Go.
