Oppo Pad Air 5 tablet launches with 120Hz display and 10,050mAh battery for $270
The Oppo Pad Air 5 has officially arrived, but despite the "Air" moniker, it is not particularly thin or light as it measures 0.27 inches thick and weighs 1.32 lbs. Instead, the tablet is intended to stand out with an attractive price-performance ratio.
For prices starting at approximately $270, Oppo offers a 12.1-inch display with an IPS panel in a 7:5 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2800 x 1980 pixels, refresh rate of 120Hz, and peak brightness of 900 nits. The DCI-P3 color space is covered by 98%, while the sRGB color space is fully covered. The Oppo tablet further has a battery capacity of 10,050mAh or 38.8Wh, and charging via USB-C takes place at up to 33 watts.
Both the main and selfie camera have a resolution of 8 megapixels. Moreover, the Oppo Pad Air 5 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra with four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores that have boost clock speeds of up to 2.5GHz, as well as four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The Oppo Pad Air 5 is compatible with a separately available stylus, but Oppo does not offer an official keyboard cover for the tablet. The Oppo Pad Air 5 ships with ColorOS 16.
Price and availability
The Oppo Pad Air 5 is only available in China for the time being. The base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB flash storage costs the equivalent of $270, while Oppo charges $384 for the top configuration with 12GB RAM, 256GB storage and a "Softlight Display". A 5G model variant is expected to launch later. It’s worth mentioning that the older Oppo Pad Air was also offered in some European markets, so a global launch might follow.
