Along with the Oppo Find X9 and the Find X9 Pro, Oppo has also introduced a new mid-range tablet today. With an aluminum chassis that is just 0.24 inches thick and a pill-shaped camera bump, the Oppo Pad 5 looks more or less ordinary, but it tries to attract customers primarily with an appealing price-performance ratio.
In order to do so, Oppo offers a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of mass storage. The 12.1-inch IPS display has a 7:5 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3000 x 2120 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate and full-screen brightness of 900 nits. The screen covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space.
For productivity applications, Oppo is selling the Pencil 2 Pro and a keyboard case with a trackpad separately. The battery’s capacity is 10,420mAh and it can be charged via USB-C at up to 67 watts. The tablet further supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5, including the Hi-Fi audio codecs Sony LDAC, Qualcomm aptX HD and LHDC 5.0. Meanwhile, the USB-C port can transfer data at up to 5Gbps. The slate also features an 8MP camera on both the front and the back.
Price and availability
The Oppo Pad 5 is currently only available in China, where the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage costs the equivalent of $365. The top configuration with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at $505. Details regarding a global launch may be confirmed as early as October 28, which is when Oppo is scheduled to announce the European launch of the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro.
