After Oppo recently revealed numerous details about the Oppo Watch S, the smartwatch has just been officially unveiled. The smartwatch's design is based on the Oppo Watch X2, but the digital crown and button are now more discreetly integrated into the case without a bulge. At a thickness of 8.9 millimeters and a weight of 35 grams, the Oppo Watch S is also about a quarter thinner and lighter.
The round 1.46-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 464 x 464 and an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it similar in brightness to the Apple Watch Ultra 3. However, full brightness is only available during outdoor workouts; otherwise, it is limited to 1,500 nits in order to conserve battery life. When the always-on display is active, the battery is said to last four days, while in energy-saving mode, ten days of battery life is possible.
The slim metal case is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, so the watch can also be worn while swimming. In addition to a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, Oppo also incorporates an ECG and a skin temperature sensor, which allows the smartwatch to track sleep and over 100 sports, among other things. A GPS module records distance traveled while running and cycling. An NFC chip allows for contactless payments. The smartwatch runs ColorOS Watch 7.1 and is compatible with both Android smartphones and the Apple iPhone.
Price and availability
The Oppo Watch S will initially launch in China; details on an international launch are still pending.
