Eazeye is introducing an unusual tablet, Paper 2.0, that is said to differ from most of its competitors primarily through its rLCD. This is an LCD that does not use backlighting, but instead uses a reflective panel to reflect ambient light via the liquid crystal layer.
This not only saves power, but also ensures good readability in bright daylight. Front lighting allows the tablet to be used at night as well. The 10.3-inch display has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,440 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The tablet comes with Eazeye OS, based on Android 14, and supports conventional Android apps. Otherwise, Paper 2.0 is a standard Android tablet with relatively weak hardware.
Eazeye installs the MediaTek Helio G99, which has two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. It also has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card. Although the tablet is relatively thick at 8.4 millimeters, it only has a 6,000 mAh battery. Nevertheless, the energy-efficient display should still achieve a usable runtime of 15 hours with active front lighting or 67 hours without lighting.
Price and availability
The Eazeye Paper 2.0 rLCD tablet is now available for pre-order via Eazeye's online shop, with delivery expected to begin in April 2026. A package containing the tablet, a case, and a stylus costs $379, plus import sales tax, customs duties and shipping.
