Originally announced in January, the PocketBook InkPoster is now widely available for purchase in the US and is also expected to arrive in Germany in November. Buyers can choose between a 13.3-inch and a 28.5-inch model in a 4:3 aspect ratio, as well as a 31.5-inch version in 16:9 format.
Regardless of size, all models have an E Ink Spectra 6 panel. The smallest version boasts a pixel density of 150 PPI, the 28.5-inch model 131 PPI, and the 31.5-inch version only 94 PPI. While the panel can always display up to 60,000 colors, the most expensive 28.5-inch version utilizes Sharp IGZO technology, allowing for faster image refresh rates. Because the picture frames have no backlighting and only reflect ambient light, they are designed to be particularly easy on the eyes and virtually indistinguishable from printed paper at first glance.
The digital picture frame has an integrated battery with a capacity of between 10,000 and 25,000 mAh, depending on the size, which is said to provide up to a year of use. Since E Ink only consumes power when the displayed image is changed, the actual battery life will likely depend heavily on how frequently the image is changed. Thanks to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a compatible smartphone app, the artwork can be changed in seconds.
