Epson unveils two EcoTank all-in-one inkjet printers with 10,000 page maximum monthly duty cycles

Epson has released the EcoTank ET-3950 and EcoTank ET-4950 all-in-one inkjet printers with large refillable ink tanks ideal for high-volume printing.

The Supertank printers replace conventional cartridge holders with ink tanks capable of holding 127 mL of black ink and 70 mL of cyan, magenta, and yellow inks. According to the company, this eliminates cartridge waste while extending ink maintenance cycles to 8,500 black pages or 6,500 color pages. The inks are filled from bottles fitted with coded nozzles to prevent accidental color mixing.

The printers have a recommended monthly duty cycle of 1,600 pages, but can handle up to a maximum of 10,000 pages per month. Both support USB, Ethernet, and 802.11 ac Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to print from computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Both all-in-ones come have 2.4-inch LCD screens, while the ET-4950 adds touch control and fax capabilities. The EcoTanks have a physical print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi and are capable of printing from the 250-sheet paper tray at 18 ppm black and 9 ppm color, according to the company's ISO tests. The auto duplex scanner has a resolution of 2400 dpi and can handle a maximum paper size of 8.5 x 14 in. using the 30-page auto document feeder. The EcoTanks copies at 11.5 cpm black and 5.7 cpm color, says Epson.

The EcoTank ET-3950 has an MSRP of $419.99 (available here on Amazon), and the EcoTank ET-4950 has an MSRP of $499.99 (available here on Amazon). A set of Epson 502 ink bottles (T502120-BCS) has an MSRP of $66.95 (nominal yield 6,500 pages, or ~$0.01 per page), but third-party compatible inks are even cheaper (like this set on Amazon).
