The Kobra Libra Color has already been available for some time now, at prices below $210. Good E Reader now reports that the model is being offered in a new version with some changes, of which the most significant is the new battery. This now offers a capacity of 2,300 mAh instead of 2,050 mAh – an increase of a good 10%, which should ensure even longer battery life, although this is generally already quite good on e-readers. However, there is a huge catch: it is apparently not possible to determine which model versions customers will receive before purchasing. This can only be found out by displaying the device information on the e-reader, where N428B stands for the new revision and N428 for the old one.
In principle, it is conceivable that customers could order several models from different online retailers and then exercise their right of return (if applicable) when receiving the old model, but this is naturally time-consuming and anything but environmentally friendly. Interested parties can probably increase their chances of receiving the new version by ordering from retailers with high turnover rates or simply waiting a little longer. Readers not familiar with the models can take a look at our review of the simiarly equipped Tolino Vision Color (in German only) from 2024. It also has IPX8 certification and can be operated with a stylus and uses Linux as its operating system, not Android.
