The new Bigme Hibreak S serves as a more affordable alternative to the Hibreak Pro, which currently retails for $459 on Amazon. With a screen size of 5.84 inches and a thickness of 0.34 inches, the e-paper phone is relatively compact. The e-ink display is not suitable for watching videos or gaming, but it is very efficient and remains readable even in direct sunlight.
When showing grayscale content, the panel has a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 276 PPI. In color mode, the resolution drops to 480 x 240 pixels at 92 PPI. A front light with adjustable color temperature and 36 levels can be useful at night. The Hibreak S further features an unspecified octa-core processor paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of mass storage, which can be expanded via microSD.
With a 5MP front camera, 13MP main camera, built-in LTE modem and a speaker above the display, the Bigme Hibreak S might be a full-fledged smartphone replacement, even though its performance is likely below average by today’s standards. Nonetheless, the battery has a capacity of 3,300mAh, which, combined with the power-efficient display, should result in long runtimes despite the smaller form factor. Meanwhile, the Android 14 operating system offers access to countless third-party apps, but Bigme has not confirmed whether the phone will receive future Android updates.
