Garmin is now offering a new update for high-end smartwatches, including the Fenix 8. Not available on the newer Fenix 8 Pro, Beta Version 20.13 introduces over half a dozen changes and improvements before Garmin pivots to a new stable update.

Garmin has now published its first update for the Fenix 8 series and its peers since adding the Fenix 8 Pro to its Beta Program last week. To recap, the company has been testing v20.xx builds on its Beta Program for almost a month. During that time, it has pushed over 50 changes to Enduro 3, Fenix E and Tactix 8 owners, as well as those who own the standard Fenix 8 (curr. $1,099.99 on Amazon).

Now, the company has moved forward with Beta Version 20.13, which can be downloaded as an over-the-air (OTA) update for those who have enrolled their Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 or Tactix 8 smartwatches on the company's Beta Program. At the time of writing, Garmin claims to have offered to around 20% of participants, although this percentage will likely increase over the next few days. Alternatively, one can request Beta Version 20.13 manually by heading to Settings, System, Software Update and then tapping 'Check for Updates'.

Please note that Garmin is not allowing Fenix 8 Pro models access to Beta Version 20.13. Potentially, this could change before the company moves on to a new beta update, though. Regardless, Beta Version 20.13 bundles eight bug fixes, including one to prevent a crash occurring when editing Active Focus Mode display settings. The full changelog for Beta Version 20.13 is as follows, which brings total v20.xx development to over 60 by our count:

  • Fixed Auto Triggered Setting Not Correctly Restoring After Backup and Restore.
  • Fixed Device Showing Storm Alerts When Swimming.
  • Fixed Flashlight Strobe Not Stopping After Pausing Activity.
  • Fixed Outdoor Maps Plus Download Map Menu Showing a Black Screen.
  • Fixed Possible Crash When Editing Activity Focus Mode Display Settings.
  • Fixed the Inreach Widget Not Automatically Adding After Pairing With an Inreach Device.
  • Fixed Touch Screen Remaining On During a Swim Activity as a Part of a Multisport Activity.
  • Fixed Voice Alert Frequency Settings Not Working.
