Garmin has updated its mid-range smartwatch series with a new model focused on adding features for pilots. As expected, the smartwatch in question is the D2 Air X15, whose existence was rumoured a month ago today. Incidentally, the D2 Ari X15 has arrived alongside the D2 Mach 2, full details of which we have covered separately.
In short, the D2 Air X15 replaces the D2 Air X10 (curr. $549 on Amazon). For context, Garmin based the latter around the Venu 2 Plus. By contrast, the D2 Air X15 skips the Venu 3 series altogether and jumps to the Venu 4 that debuted in September.
As such, the D2 Air X15 boasts a 1.4-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 454 x 454 pixels with up to 10 days of battery life. Sat within a 45 mm case, the D2 Air X15 weighs 56 g with Garmin's stock band and supports 22 mm Quick Release bands. Moreover, the smartwatch boasts a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display cover, a stainless steel bezel and a case that combines fibre-reinforced polymer with stainless steel.
On top of that, the D2 Air X15 features a built-in LED flashlight and the Garmin Pilot app, which provides avionics flight data, navigation information and an aviation morning report, among other pilot-focused details. Furthermore, Garmin integrates other Venu 4 features like voice command support and its Messenger app service. The D2 Air X15 is available in Slate and Silver finishes with a Black Silicone Band for $649.99. Please see Garmin's website for more details.
