Garmin has unveiled the Venu 2 Plus on its website, seemingly eschewing CES 2022. The company has not mentioned the new smartwatch on any of its social media channels, but Venu 2 Plus listings are live on its German, UK and US websites. For reference, the smartwatch costs €449.99 in Germany, £399.99 in the UK and US$449.99 in the US.
The Venu 2 Plus is only available as a 43 mm smartwatch and with a 1.3-inch display. Additionally, the AMOLED panel operates at 416 x 416 pixels and supports always-on functionality. According to Garmin, the Venu 2 Plus weighs 51 g and should last up to 9 days between charges when using smartwatch mode. By contrast, you should expect up to 8 hours of battery life when playing music and using GPS simultaneously. Garmin's battery life estimate rises to 24 hours when using GPS only and 10 days if you enable battery saver mode.
The smartwatch itself has a fibre-reinforced polymer case with a stainless steel rear cover and bezel. Also, Garmin has covered the smartwatch's display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and claims that the device is 5 ATM water-resistant. Unsurprisingly, the Venu 2 Plus contains numerous sensors and supports plenty of health monitoring features. Garmin has pre-loaded the Venu 2 Plus with golfing, running, swimming and gym modes too, among other exercise modes.
The Venu 2 Plus is available in three colours that Garmin refers to as:
- Silver Stainless Steel Bezel with Powder Gray Case and Silicone Band
- Slate Stainless Steel Bezel with Black Case and Silicone Band
- Cream Gold Stainless Steel Bezel with Ivory Case and Silicone Band
All colours support voice functionality via a paired smartphone. Supposedly, the Venu 2 Plus is compatible with Bixby, Google Assistant and Siri. Garmin has included a microphone as well for making and receiving phone calls without needing your phone to hand. The Venu 2 Plus is shipping now in the US, but it will not be available in the Eurozone or the UK for a few weeks.
