Quantum Operation Inc has revealed its first smartwatch that supports non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. According to a press release, the smartwatch relies on an in-house and patented 'spectrum sensing technology' that can accurately measure glucose levels in someone's bloodstream through their skin.
Hence, Quantum Operation's claim that its smartwatch is a non-invasive solution for diabetics. Additionally, it states that it will enable a feature for monitoring pre- and post-meal blood glucose level changes. Quantum adds that its in-house technologies can also monitor heart rate and blood oxygen saturation changes.
While Quantum hopes to showcase its non-invasive technology next month, it is not close to releasing a finished product. Instead, the company will exhibit a prototype that looks somewhat unfinished. Until then, Quantum has released a video showing its prototype in action, which you can watch below.
However, Quantum is not the first company to demonstrate non-invasive blood glucose monitors. KnowU and UBand have, for example, which we have discussed separately. Afon Technology has also developed a comparable sensor, but it is yet to bring anything to market.
