Pixel Watch: Leaked watch faces point to Fitbit's integration within Google's first Pixel-branded smartwatch
Yesterday, we reported that screenshots of Wear OS 3 had probably offered the first glimpses of the Pixel Watch's launch software. To date, Wear OS 3 has only arrived on the Galaxy Watch4 series, albeit the One UI Watch version of it. Only existing Wear OS smartwatches with the Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC will be eligible for Wear OS 3 upgrades.
While we expected people to discover more details about the Pixel Watch from the Wear OS 3 build, we did not expect 9to5Google to do so as quickly as it has. According to the website, it found a video containing multiple watch faces in an APK within the Wear OS 3 build. We have embedded the video and screenshots taken from it below.
On the whole, the watch faces are more colourful and vibrant than equivalents in Wear OS 2, probably because Google plans to pitch Wear OS 3 as an Android 12 companion. Presumably, most of these watch faces will be available to the likes of the Fossil Gen 6 and TicWatch Pro 3 when they receive Wear OS 3 in the second half of 2022. Incidentally, many of the watch faces match those seen in leaked Pixel Watch marketing images
However, some contain Fitbit iconography, along with the Fitbit brand icon itself. For context, Google announced in May that it would integrate Fitbit within Wear OS, having completed its protracted acquisition in January. Seemingly, Fitbit will play a sizeable part in Wear OS and the Pixel Watch, which is tipped to arrive next year.
