Sony Xperia PRO-I teardown video highlights several differences from the Xperia 1 III
PBKReviews has published his teardown video of the Xperia PRO-I, Sony's latest flagship smartphone. As the video below shows, the Xperia PRO-I is labyrinthian in its construction. PBKReviews has already shown how complex the Xperia 1 III is, but Sony has gone even further with the Xperia PRO-I.
The Xperia PRO-I and Xperia 1 III may share a display and roughly the same footprint, but they look completely different internally. On the one hand, the Xperia PRO-I lacks wireless charging support, so there is no copper coil hidden beneath its back panel. Also, Sony has mounted the cameras in the back panel's centre this time around, rather than on the left as with the Xperia 1 III.
Those are rather surface-level changes, though. On the other hand, the Xperia PRO-I has a significantly larger motherboard than the Xperia 1 III. In fact, the motherboard stretches the length of the Xperia PRO-I, with Sony deciding to place its 4,500 mAh battery atop it. If that was not bad enough, you cannot remove the device's cameras without taking out the motherboard first.
Unsurprisingly, PBKReviews awarded the Xperia PRO-I 3/10 points for repairability. By contrast, the Xperia 1 III received 6/10 points, largely because of its less complex build. Currently, the Xperia PRO-I is available to order on Amazon for US$1,798 (affiliate link).
