Another upcoming Garmin smartwatch has leaked, with more details about the Instinct 2 series having recently surfaced. Additionally, Garmin has just launched the Epix 2 and fēnix 7 series, on which we have reported. This time, Garmin has disclosed information about the Forerunner 955, the presumed successor of the Forerunner 945.
As the screenshot below shows, Garmin listed the Forerunner 955 on its Australia website. Unfortunately, neither Google nor the Wayback Machine cached the listing. However, different screenshots of the same listing have appeared on Garmin Forums and Reddit. Unsurprisingly, the Forerunner 955 will offer GPS and LTE connectivity. Garmin will offer the Forerunner 955 as a bundle too, typically with HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim monitors, among other accessories.
As it stands, Garmin charges AUD$999 for the non-LTE version of the Forerunner 945, and AUD$1,049 for the fēnix 7 and fēnix 7S. Hence, the Forerunner 955 LTE will retail for about as much as other Garmin smartwatches, Epix 2 and Sapphire Solar models excluded. It is unclear when the Forerunner 955 will arrive, but it should include plenty of health and exercise tracking features as well, such as a heart rate sensor, a SpO2 sensor and VO₂ Max capabilities.
