Garmin Descent G1 and Descent G1 Solar launched for divers and smartwatch fans
Garmin has released the Descent G1 series, following on from last month's D2 Air X10 and the company's January hardware refresh. Currently, Garmin offers the Descent G1 series in four colours, although these are split between two colours for the Descent G1 and two for the Descent G1 Solar. For reference, both models only come as 45 mm smartwatches, unlike the fēnix 7 series.
As such, the Descent G1 series has a 0.9-inch display that resolves at 176 x 176 pixels. Garmin equips the Descent G1 and Descent G1 Solar with a two-window design too, both monochrome transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) panels. Additionally, both smartwatches feature 10 ATM water resistance, GPS, a heart rate monitor and a compass, among other sensors. As its name suggests, the Descent G1 series is designed for divers, although Garmin hopes that general smartwatch fans will also pick up a Descent G1 or Descent G1 Solar.
