Garmin Forerunner 955: Smartwatch leaks again in regular and Solar variants
Last week, Garmin rolled out an update for the Forerunner 945, a smartwatch that the company will soon replace with the Forerunner 955. While it is unclear when Garmin will launch the Forerunner 955, a Swedish retailer has added the smartwatch to its website. Mind you, this is not the first time that the Forerunner 955 has leaked.
In January, Garmin Australia briefly listed the Forerunner 955, outing its price plus GPS and LTE connectivity. This time, RunningShop.se has inadvertently confirmed that Garmin will also announce a Forerunner 955 Solar, not just a battery-powered version. However, RunningShop.se has listed the regular Forerunner 955 too.
Unfortunately, RunningShop.se has not published any Forerunner 955 marketing images or any specifications. Presumably, Garmin will bring across some Fenix 6 and Fenix 7 series features though, rather than relying on the three-year-old Forerunner 945 platform. Garmin launched the Forerunner 945 in April 2019, so we would not rule out a Forerunner 955 release this month, assuming that Garmin sticks to a three-year release cycle.
