Garmin Forerunner 245 successors leak as the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 255s
It seems that Garmin is finally preparing to release a successor to the Forerunner 245, a smartwatch that it unveiled in 2019. According to the5krunner, Garmin has created two models, although it will offer non-music and music versions of both editions. In other words, Garmin will sell four versions of the Forerunner 255.
Citing 'one, rather good, source', the5krunner claims that the Forerunner 255 series will arrive as the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 255s. Reputedly, the Forerunner 255s will be a smaller alternative to the Forerunner 255, rather than a more powerful or premium edition. Purportedly, the Forerunner 255s will feature a 42 mm case, 5 mm smaller than the Forerunner 255.
Additionally, the website asserts that Garmin will launch Forerunner 255 smartwatches in five colourways. While the5krunner has not disclosed what colours will be available, it insists that the Forerunner 245's blue and red colours will not return. Moreover, the non-music variants will also lack Wi-Fi connectivity. Separately, no Forerunner 255 model will have an AMOLED display or solar charging. For some reason, Garmin has elected to restrict these features to its premium smartwatches.
A release date has not leaked yet. However, Garmin is also expected to unveil the Forerunner 955 and Vivosmart 5 soon, so we would not rule out a simultaneous launch.
