Polar Pacer and Pacer Pro revealed as budget smartwatches with plenty of features
Polar has revealed the Pacer and Pacer Pro, which leaked shortly before their release. As expected, the Pacer and Pacer Pro are similar smartwatches, although the latter has a few more features up its sleeve than the former. Unsurprisingly, the Pacer Pro is more expensive than the regular Pacer too.
However, both models are 45 mm smartwatches with 1.2-inch Memory-In-Pixel (MIP) displays. Also, these displays resolve at 240 x 240 pixels and have always-on functionality. Unfortunately, neither have ambient light sensors or touchscreens. Likewise, the Pacer and Pacer Pro rely on a new SoC with a 200 MHz CPU that Polar has paired with 5 MB of RAM and 32 MB of storage.

Accordingly, the pair support Bluetooth 5.1 and provide a similar feature set. Polar includes turn-by-turn guidance on the Pacer Pro though, along with a barometer, a magnetometer compass, gradient counting and more accurate power tracking. Conversely, both smartwatches have 265 mAh batteries that Polar rates for up to 35 hours of training between charges.
The Polar Pacer series is orderable from today in multiple markets. At launch, Polar charges US$199.95 for the Pacer in the US, which is available in four colours. While the Pacer will not ship until May, the Pacer Pro is shipping now, but for US$299.95.
