Polar has introduced a few changes for its Unite and Vantage V2 smartwatches. On the one hand, Polar has added more colour options for both models. As the images below show, the Vantage V2 is now available in red, as is the Unite. However, the latter is orderable in a new teal option, too. The new colour options for the Polar Unite are shipping now; the Polar Vantage V2 Red starts shipping on October 20.
Additionally, Polar has unveiled the Vantage V2 Shift, available in black and silver editions. Both colours will feature quick release spring bars for their 'perforated leather' and 'premium FKM' watch bands. It appears that there are no other differences between the regular Vantage V2 and Vantage V2 Shift, though. Polar has not confirmed when it will start selling the Vantage V2 Shift.
Incidentally, Polar has brought three new features to the Unite, which it will enable via a software update. According to the company, it has added Weekly Summary and Energy Sources modes, with the latter providing details about what kind of calories you are burning. The Polar Unite will also support a pulse sensor mode that allows you to connect it to compatible fitness equipment. Once you have done that, you will be able to use the Polar Unite as a wireless pulse sensor.
The Vantage V2 has received the same pulse sensor mode, along with the option to adjust backlight brightness and setting watch faces with built-in music controls. Furthermore, Polar has added route and elevation profiles, complementing the 'Location' and 'Sunrise & Sunset' watch faces that it has bundled too. Firmware 3.0 will be available to download for the Vantage V2 via FlowSync on Mac and Windows, and Polar Flow on Android or iOS devices. Polar states that it will release 3.0 firmware across all platforms on October 20.
