The Garmin D2 Air X10 Smartwatch has launched with SpO2 sensor, plus a host of aviation and fitness features

Garmin has launched the D2 Air X10 smartwatch, the successor to the D2 Air. The device is aimed at pilots, with features such as flight tracking and weather reports. This updated gadget lets you make calls from your watch and use voice assistants such as Siri and Bixby; Garmin added similar functionality to other smartwatches earlier this year.

The D2 Air X10 has up to 7 days of battery life, with rapid charging abilities. The gadget also has a SpO2 or blood oxygen level monitor, telling you how well your body reacts to higher altitudes.

There are many aeronautical tools in the watch, such as navigating straight to a nearby airport or viewing runway information, such as orientation and length. The weather report feature can show you wind speed and visibility, while the HSI course needle shows you if you are on your desired flight path.

While the Garmin device is aimed at pilots, it has many features you find on other smartwatches, such as the ability to receive notifications and make contactless payments. You can also play locally stored music from Spotify and Amazon Music apps. Alongside this, the watch has health and fitness features, such as heart rate, body energy and stress monitoring, plus hydration tracking.

The watch has a high-quality AMOLED display, measuring ~1.69 “ (43 mm) in diameter with a 416 x 416 pixel resolution. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, with a stainless steel bezel. The device is water-rated to 5 ATM, so it can be used, for example, when swimming.
