Samsung hints at next-generation Google Assistant and an improved YouTube Music app for One UI Watch and Wear OS
Samsung has confirmed that it and Google plan to bring new functionality to the Galaxy Watch4 series, on top of the features that the former has introduced today. To recap, Samsung has added improved body composition analysis, cyclist and runner-specific interval training programs and sleep coaching. All these features will be available through an updated Galaxy Wearable app.
Samsung claims that Google Assistant will finally be coming to the Galaxy Watch4 series, but only 'in the coming months'. Reportedly, Google Assistant will arrive with offline support and will process your speech on your smartwatch instead of in the cloud. Additionally, Samsung adds that the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic will soon be capable of streaming music over LTE or Wi-Fi using the YouTube Music app.
That may seem like an essential feature, the YouTube Music is only capable of playing music that you have downloaded. Samsung states that the new YouTube Music app will be 'coming soon through an additional update'. Unfortunately, it has not set a timescale for the new app's arrival. Presumably, music streaming is arriving on One UI Watch in advance of vanilla Wear OS 3 arriving, expected during Google's next I/O conference.
