Redmi K50 series: Xiaomi confirms launch date for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 model as design and several specifications revealed ↺
Xiaomi has finally announced when it will reveal the Redmi K50 series, albeit seemingly only in China for the time being. Also, Xiaomi may showcase merely the Redmi K50 Gaming, a smartphone that it started teasing last month. As the images below show, Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi K50 series on February 16 at 19:00 CST (11:00 UTC).
Based on previous leaks, Xiaomi will sell the Redmi K50 Gaming globally as the POCO F4 GT. In comparison, Xiaomi restricted the POCO F3 GT to India, for some reason. Incidentally, the Redmi K50 Gaming appears to have retained its predecessor's design, including its shoulder buttons, rounded corners and triple rear-facing camera array.
Moreover, Xiaomi's teasers confirm that the Redmi K50 Gaming will launch with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Additionally, Xiaomi had already confirmed that the Redmi K50 series would support up to 120 W wired charging, the CyberEngine haptics motor, a 4,700 mAh battery and a new vapour chamber cooling system. Now, it has clarified that the latter measures 4,860 mm² and that it covers most of the device's back panel.
Purportedly, the Redmi K50 Gaming will retail for CNY 3,499 (~US$550). By contrast, the lesser Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50 Pro+ are expected to arrive for CNY 1,999 (~US$314), CNY 2,699 (~US$424), and CNY 3,299 (~US$519), respectively.
