Chinese retailer hints at how many Xiaomi Redmi K50 devices will launch at next week's hardware event
It is no secret that the Redmi K50 series is almost upon us. For one, Xiaomi has scheduled a launch event for February 16, albeit only one for Chinese audiences. Reportedly, the Redmi K50 series will not appear globally under various guises until spring 2022. Xiaomi has also confirmed numerous specifications for the Redmi K50 series, as we have discussed previously.
Incidentally, JD.com has opened its pre-booking system for what translates as the Redmi K50 Esports Edition, also known as the Redmi K50 Gaming. Hence, if you live in China, you can reserve your spot with JD.com to order the device when it arrives next week. JD.com will only list the Redmi K50 Gaming's pricing after Xiaomi announces it on February 16.
For context, JD.com is one of China's largest online retailers alongside Alibaba-owned Tmall. Currently, JD.com ranks 59th in the Fortune Global 500, four places ahead of Alibaba. As it stands, JD.com is only accepting pre-bookings for the Redmi K50 Gaming, not the rumoured Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro or Redmi K50 Pro+.
Typically, retailers like JD.com would open their pre-booking systems for upcoming smartphones. As a result, it seems likely that Xiaomi may only launch the Redmi K50 Gaming next week, not the rest of the Redmi K50 series. As we have covered separately, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has admitted as much anyway.
