Redmi K50 Gaming: Leaks tout lackluster cameras, shoulder triggers, and high-grade heat dissipation for Xiaomi's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone
Xiaomi is expected to debut the Redmi K50 series next month. One of the phones in the series will be the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition, and a new set of leaks have now thrown even more light on what will be Xiaomi's first performance-focused premium phone of the year.
According to Bald Panda, the Redmi K50 Gaming will feature either a 48 MP or 64 MP main camera, aided by a 13 MP and 2 MP pair. At the front will be a 16 MP shooter. The leaker takes that to indicate that the phone will not be an amazing camera performer. That shouldn't be a surprise, however, as the Redmi K50 Gaming looks to be focused on gaming performance.
Digital Chat Station claims that the Redmi K50 Gaming, along with all its siblings, will sport a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Supposedly, Xiaomi has implemented a high-grade heat dissipation technology on the phone in a bid to curtail the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1's excesses. The leaker also claims that a Dimensity 8000 or Dimensity 9000 model is on the way and will be positioned higher than the Redmi K50 Gaming. Launch looks to be months away, however.
Other leaked features of the Redmi K50 Gaming edition include a 6.67-inch FHD+ curved Huaxing display and "game shoulder key". We assume the latter refers to maglev triggers, similar to what Xiaomi equipped the Poco F3 GT with last year. This isn't the first time word of shoulder triggers on the Redmi K50 Gaming has surfaced either, so it's safe to consider that solid information.
