Not too long ago, developers managed to run Windows 10X on a dated Lumia 950 XL smartphone, with a Windows 11 build in development. Meanwhile, intrepid developer Gustave Monce managed to boot Windows 11 on an Android phone. The best part is, it isn't just any Android phone, but Microsoft's own Surface Duo.
Based on the screenshots posted on Twitter, Gustave still has a long way to go. While he managed to get the Windows 11 installer running on the Surface Duo, it isn't clear how much further he went after that. It'll be some time before we get a somewhat bug-free version of it. Nonetheless, it is an awe-inspiring feat that could the precedent for future Windows 11-powered smartphones.
The Surface Duo in question is a damaged unit, which is why one of its screens is dysfunctional. Gustave wanted to check if Windows 11 played nice with the smartphone's UFS storage before using a fully-functional unit. He has plans to sideload the doomed Windows 10X onto the tablet sometime as well.

Still early days so aside from booting and showing stuff on screen that is about it but that’s always satisfying to watch pic.twitter.com/z0iTJFIbyY
