The Garmin Instinct 2 series first leaked in December, with WinFuture also revealing the Epix 2 and fēnix 7 series. Gadgets & Wearables has since added to WinFuture's findings with various details, including prices. According to the website, the Instinct 2S will be the Instinct 2's smaller sibling. There will be no Instinct 2X though, unlike the fēnix 7 series.
Also, the pair will be available in Camera, Solar, Surf and Tactical editions, so there will be plenty of options to choose from with the Instinct 2 series. All models will feature barometers and GPS modules too, along with improved heart rate and SpO2 sensors. Additionally, the Instinct 2 series will support VO₂ max monitoring, sleep tracking and Garmin Pay via built-in NFC chips.
Moreover, the Instinct 2 series rely on E Ink displays, which should deliver excellent battery life. Reportedly, Solar models will have unlimited battery life if you expose them to three hours of daylight per day. Continuous GPS usage drops this battery life estimate to 48 hours, which is still excellent for a smartwatch. By contrast, non-solar models will last up to 28 days in the case of the Instinct 2 and 21 days for the smaller Instinct 2S.
The Garmin Instinct 2 series is expected to launch on February 1, albeit at higher prices than the original Instinct 2 series. Allegedly, the Instinct 2 and the Instinct 2S will start at US$350 each. However, Camo and Surf models will be US$50 more expensive at US$400, with prices also rising in US$50 increments for the Solar and Tactical editions.
