OnePlus has recently launched the Ace 6T in China as the first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and the phone is set for a global debut on December 17, 2025, but with a tweaked spec sheet. As previously speculated, the OnePlus 15R, which is the international model, won't have the same battery as the Chinese model.
To fill you in, the Ace 6T features the largest battery that the company has ever put inside a phone, featuring a capacity of 8,300 mAh. This battery is larger than the one found inside the brand's current top-end flagship, the OnePlus 15. As for the 15R, it's now confirmed to sport a 7,400 mAh battery.
Of course, this is still a larger battery than the one found inside the OnePlus 15, making it the largest battery phone the company has offered in the international market. However, the 8,000+ mAh capacity is one of the headlining features of the Ace 6T, and it would've been great to see the same in the global OnePlus 15R. That said, battery capacity downgrades aren't anything new for Chinese phones that eventually go global. Many companies have done it in the past.
The charging speed has also seen a slight downgrade, dropping from 100 W to 80 W (140 W Anker Zolo GaN charger curr. $69.99 on Amazon). As for the other confirmed specs of the OnePlus 15R, the brand has recently revealed that the global variant will retain the 165 Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and multiple IP ratings. More details about the global affordable flagship are expected to emerge in the coming days.
