XiaomiTime has discovered early details about a new Black Shark-branded gaming tablet. To recap, Xiaomi recently introduced the GS3 Ultra smartwatch under its Black Shark brand. Now, it appears that Xiaomi is preparing to rebrand the existing Pad 7 Pro (curr. $529 on Amazon) for its gaming sub-brand.
Incidentally, Black Shark already sells the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro. However, these tablets feature MediaTek's relatively low-power Helio chipsets. By contrast, this unnamed Black Shark tablet will leverage the significantly more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 that Xiaomi already uses inside the Pad 7 Pro. According to our benchmarks, this chipset should give Black Shark's next gaming tablet a circa 1.42x performance boost over the Black Shark Pad 7 Pro.
Buoyed by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, the unnamed tablet will not be an exact copy of the Pad 7 Pro. For instance, Xiaomi has included a smaller battery capacity that coincides with a drop from 45 W to 20 W wired charging.
Currently, XiaomiTime has only revealed the tablet's rated capacity of 7,300 mAh. Therefore, we would expect to see the tablet to line up with a circa 7,500 mAh typical battery capacity whenever it launches. Unfortunately, launch details remain unknown at this point.
