The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is a fast mid-range SoC (System on a Chip) for smartphones that was introduced at the end of 2025. It integrates two fast Oryon Gen 3 Prime Cores with up to 3.8 GHz and 6 smaller Oryon Gen 3 Performance Cores with up to 3.32 GHz. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5the 8 Gen5 offers smaller caches and a lower clock rate. However, both already support the SME2 instruction set (unlike the Snapdragon 8 Elite).
Furthermore, an Adreno 829 GPU with 2 MB cache and up to 1225 MHz clock speed is installed.
The Geekbench results show the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 on a par with the older Snapdragon 8 Elite but clearly behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is also slightly ahead of the 8 Gen 5, while the Dimensity 9400 remains behind it.
The SoC is produced in the N3P process at TSMC.
