Multiple reports have already surfaced about Xiaomi’s potential plans to launch the Xiaomi 17 Ultra camera flagship, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, in China as early as December. A recently spotted certification for two variant models appears to confirm the company’s ambitious plans and reveal some early specifications.

The successor to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has been spotted in China’s 3C certification system, with two distinct models listed. The CCC entries confirm that both variants support 100-watt fast charging – similar to the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. According to the certification, models 2512BPNDAC and 25128PNA1C differ only in their cellular connectivity: The former exclusively supports 5G networks, whilst the latter adds satellite connectivity (at least in China). Prolific leaker Digital Chat Station claims this variant supports Beidou satellite SMS and Tiantong satellite calling.

Second Xiaomi 17 Ultra model with external zoom camera

However, the certification listings may not reveal the full picture. In recent weeks, additional details have gradually emerged suggesting one of the two Xiaomi 17 Ultra models – presumably the more expensive satellite-enabled version – may also support an external Leica camera module. This attachment is reportedly more than just a typical teleconverter lens like the optional add-ons available for the Vivo X300 Pro or Oppo Find X9 Pro. According to the leaker, it is going to be a far superior “physical zoom” solution, likely comparable to a standard zoom lens. Furthermore, Digital Chat Station has fuelled speculation that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will reach the Chinese market ahead of the Vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra. Whilst both the Vivo and Oppo flagships are expected to launch globally towards the end of Q1 2026, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may debut as early as this December.
