Leak reveals specs for first Sony 200 MP camera tipped for Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Xiaomi 16 Ultra

Digital Chat Station has shared more details about a new 200 MP camera sensor that they have discussed several times in the last few weeks. To recap, the same leaker initially mentioned the prospect of Sony having created an alternative to Samsung's rumoured ISOCELL S5KHPE sensor.

A few days ago, they then claimed that Sony is developing its previously mysterious 200 MP sensor under the name IMX09E. Now, Digital Chat Station asserts that they have received more information about the IMX09E, which they report Sony is 'positioning higher' than the LYT-900 found in the Find X8 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, among others. By extension, one would expect the Sony IMX09E to go toe-to-toe with the ISOCELL HP2 inside Samsung's recent flagships like the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,048 on Amazon).

Reportedly, the Sony IMX09E features 0.7 μm wide pixels with a 1/1.12-inch optical format. In other words, the sensor would be smaller than the LYT-900. To offset this, Digital Chat Station believes that the IMX09E will provide over 100 dB of dynamic range using Sony's Hybrid-Frame HDR technology. On top of that, the IMX09E should be capable of offering a 4x lossless zoom experience paired with Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
