Qualcomm has just confirmed that its upcoming flagship SoC will be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and Xiaomi is expected to be the first to launch phones featuring it. These next-gen flagship phones will be from the Xiaomi 17 series, and the company's Weibo account has just accidentally leaked the back design of what's thought to be the Pro model.
To be specific, as noticed by Chinese Weibo users, Xiaomi Weibo's profile picture was recently changed, and the first update shows a photo of an unreleased phone. While the profile picture was updated right away, the first photo is believed to have showcased what the back of the Xiaomi 17 Pro models will look like.
As for the photo itself, it shows the back of the phone with a secondary display, matching what the recent spy shots have already revealed. That is, the secondary screen is integrated with the camera island of the Xiaomi 17 Pro, featuring two inlaid cameras.
Per the photo, there will be a third camera on the back, but it will be positioned under the camera island, right beside the flash module. This Xiaomi 17 Pro redesign appears to be a follow-up to what the company did with its Mi 11 Ultra, which also featured a secondary screen on the back.
However, unlike the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, the secondary display for the Xiaomi 17 Pro models appears to be larger and more functional, as the secondary screen could even support running full-screen apps (just like the outer display of the Galaxy Z Flip 7). Of course, it's possible that only the rumored Xiaomi 17 Pro Max could feature this redesign, while the Pro and standard models could have no secondary display on the back. More official details of Xiaomi's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phones are expected to emerge soon.
