Xiaomi will present the Xiaomi 17 series this month as the first devices to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Ahead of that, one of the devices in the lineup has now been spotted on Geekbench, delivering some less-than-stellar scores.

Both the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Vivo X300 have made recent visits to Geekbench with MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 in tow. That chipset will be rivaled by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which has now also been spotted on Geekbench aboard the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Pro

The Xiaomi 17 Pro has now surfaced on Geekbench ahead of its debut later this month. The premium phone is listed with the model number "25098PN5AC" and records a 3,025 single-core score and a multi-core score of 9,178. Both of those numbers are flat-out disappointing, as we have recorded similar or slightly better figures from Snapdragon 8 Elite devices like the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra in our tests. They're also worse than the Dimensity 9500-powered Oppo Find X Pro managed.

As with all pre-launch benchmark sightings, the testing conditions for this run are unknown and may well be responsible for the lackluster scores. That said, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on the tested device is listed running at what appears to be typical speeds, with six cores at 3.63 GHz and two performance cores at 4.61 GHz. The device is also listed with 16 GB of RAM and Qualcomm's Adreno 840 GPU.
