Leaker Digital Chat Station has shared early details about what they believe is a new RedMagic device. For context, the company has just started selling its Astra tablet globally in a new model variant following its initial launch earlier this summer.
Just before that, parent company Nubia launched the Air to rival what is now known as the iPhone Air. Moreover, Nubia is rumoured to be developing a Z80 Ultra Photographer Edition with a late 2025 launch in mind. According to Digital Chat Station, a 'new RedMagic device' features a single-cell battery with a 7,800 mAh minimum rated capacity and a 30.5 Wh energy rating.
Writing on Weibo, the leaker adds that RedMagic will likely advertise this battery by its typical capacity of over 8,000 mAh, which typically reflects a manufacturer's average battery capacity value. Unfortunately, Digital Chat Station has not elaborated further about RedMagic's 8,000 mAh device yet.
Nonetheless, recent leaks indicate that the device in question could be the RedMagic 11 or RedMagic 11 Pro. On top of that, RedMagic already offers a similar battery capacity inside its Astra tablet. Therefore, Digital Chat Station's rumour more likely applies to a smartphone than a new tablet. If the device to which Digital Chat Station refers is a smartphone, then this new battery technology would help it achieve a 13% capacity uplift over the RedMagic 10S Pro, RedMagic's most recent smartphone (curr. $949 on Amazon).
