Leaker UniverseIce has leaked the state of the Galaxy S26 Pro's bezels. Calling the situation "little progress", the leaker shows, by way of renders, that the Xiaomi 16 Pro has much thinner bezels than the Galaxy S26 Pro and the Galaxy S26 Edge.

Aside from leaking tons of details about unreleased smartphone models, leaker UniverseIce is also known to bash Samsung about the problems and lack of innovation in the Galaxy S smartphones. In their latest critique, UniverseIce reveals that Samsung has made “little progress” in the bezel department of the Galaxy S26 Pro.

The leaker uses renders to compare the size of the Galaxy S26 Pro’s bezels with the “most advanced technology” of the Xiaomi 16 Pro. The lack of meaningful reduction in the size of the Galaxy S26 Pro’s bezels has been attributed to cost savings and to match the iPhone 17 Pro.

Although the size of bezels alone is unlikely to have an impact on the sales of the Galaxy S26 Pro, UniverseIce posits that the global sales of the Xiaomi 16 series will “directly threaten Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge for the first time”. This could also, according to the leaker, result in the Xiaomi 16 Pro becoming “the best-selling non-Ultra flagship Android phone”.

While we can’t say whether Xiaomi 16 Pro will become the best-selling non-Ultra Android smartphone, Samsung’s strategy doesn’t inspire much confidence. For instance, the Galaxy S25 has the same rear camera hardware as the Galaxy S22, a phone launched back in 2022. Similarly, the Galaxy S25 only has a 4,000 mAh battery, only 100 mAh more than 2023’s Galaxy S23, while the competition offers much bigger cells. For instance, the Xiaomi 15 carries a 5,240 mAh battery.

The same can be said about the design. Samsung has done little to change the appearance of the Galaxy S25 since the Galaxy S23. The Galaxy S26 Pro, according to rumors, isn’t expected to change things by a huge margin.

In short, Samsung seems to have relegated itself to only matching or competing with Apple. The company’s pace of innovation, as shown by UniverseIce’s latest critique on the Galaxy S26 Pro’s proposed bezel size, isn’t enough to compete against Chinese rivals. If the Korean Giant doesn’t remedy this, it won’t be surprising to see the Galaxy S series fall further down the best phones on the market ladder.
