New Xiaomi 16 Pro leak points to major display overhaul from its predecessor

Xiaomi is expected to release the first Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 flagship phones, and so far, leaks have hinted that upcoming smartphones will come with some key upgrades. More specifically, the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series devices are rumored to have better cameras and larger batteries than their predecessors.

Now, a new leak hints that the Xiaomi 16 Pro will see a major display overhaul. This report comes from a well-known Weibo tipster, Smart Pikachu, and the leakster claims that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 flagship will ditch the curved screen found on the predecessor and sport a flat display instead.

Looking back, the Xiaomi 15 Pro features a micro-quad-curved 6.73-inch display, and its screen was touted to offer a better hand feel than the 14 Pro. As for the upcoming Pro flagship phone, it's reported to feature a larger 6.8-inch display, and as Smart Pikachu notes, with a flat screen and narrow bezels, the "visual effect" will be as premium as the last-gen phone.

Of course, there were talks about a more compact Xiaomi 16 Pro, which reportedly features a 6.3-inch display. However, it could launch with the Pro Mini moniker instead of being called the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max.

Other than that, Smart Pikachu shares that the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Pro will come with a new display technology to offer a comfortable viewing experience under different lighting conditions. Among the other rumored specs are a triple 50 MP camera setup on the back, a 7,500 mAh battery with 100 W fast charging support (200 W Ugreen Nexode 25K power bank curr. $99.99 on Amazon), and 50 W wireless charging.
