The successor to the Realme GT 7 Pro is supposedly getting significant camera upgrades, also because Realme might be partnering with a new camera manufacturer. Similar to Sony and Zeiss, Oppo and Hasselblad, or Xiaomi and Leica, Realme is reportedly working with Ricoh to equip its new flagship with better cameras and new photography features.
According to the latest information from the highly reliable leaker Digital Chat Station, Realme is opting for a triple camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera with a large sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. This setup is expected to support Ricoh's "negative film" filters, which are already known from the Ricoh GR III Diary Edition (from $1,459 on Amazon). It is unclear whether Ricoh will also contribute some of the more interesting features from the Ricoh GR IV, such as the integrated ND filter which could offer optimal shutter speed for video recording even in bright daylight, or Snap Focus, which has a preset focus distance to reduce shutter lag.
The Realme GT 8 Pro is further expected to feature a 6.78-inch 165Hz AMOLED display and a battery with a capacity of at least 7,000mAh, which can be charged via USB-C with up to 120 watts. The smartphone is supposedly powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. According to Digital Chat Station, the more affordable Realme GT 8 makes few compromises regarding performance, the display or the battery, as Realme is reportedly cutting costs mainly on the cameras to sell the phone at a lower price.
