The mobile photography world is heating up as Sony prepares to challenge Samsung's dominance in ultra-high-resolution sensors. Reports confirm the upcoming Sony LYT-910 is the company's first 200MP phone camera sensor, featuring a large 1/1.11-inch size. Check its key leaked specs here.

The competition at the high end of mobile camera technology is about to become more intense. Samsung has been the primary provider of 200-megapixel mobile image sensors for years. However, reports now confirm that Sony is preparing its own entry into the ultra-high-resolution 200MP segment: the Sony LYT-910.

Sony LYT-910: The upcoming phone camera sensor set to challenge Samsung's 200MP lead

Tech tipster @fenibook has leaked some key specs for Sony's first 200MP phone camera sensor, and as expected, they're impressive. According to the source, the sensor will feature a huge 1/1.11-inch physical sensor size. While it falls short of the 1-inch optical format found in other high-end 50MP phone cameras, it's pretty close, while offering 4x the resolution.

For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra's 200MP camera sensor is smaller at 1/1.3-inch. The greater size of Sony's lens will allow for improved light gathering and better overall image quality. The sensor incorporates individual pixels measuring 0.7µm and uses advanced pixel binning technology to manage light efficiently at outputs of both 50MP and 200MP resolution.

Beyond just high pixel count, the LYT-910 is expected to bring several advanced functional improvements. It is rumored to achieve a dynamic range exceeding 100dB, which should translate to superior HDR performance and better detail retention in scenes with extreme contrast. For users interested in flexibility, the camera is said to deliver 2x and 4x in-sensor lossless-quality zoom shots.

The sensor's reported video capabilities are also impressive, including support for high frame rates such as 4K at 120fps and high-resolution 8K recording at 30fps with HDR.

OPPO and Vivo flagships to use the sensor

According to reports, Android brands like OPPO and Vivo are ready to integrate this new Sony LYT-910 200MP camera sensor into upcoming flagship models such as the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and the Vivo X300 Ultra. Finally, Sony will officially launch the imaging component next year (2026).
