Leaked benchmark data from a Vivo X500 Pro Max engineering sample points to the Dimensity 9600 Pro's core layout, revealing a dual-prime-core design for the first time in a flagship MediaTek chip.

A Vivo X500 Pro Max engineering sample (model V2610) has surfaced on Geekbench Browser running an unreleased MediaTek chip tagged "MT6995(ENG)," widely believed to be the Dimensity 9600 Pro. The listing provides the clearest look yet at the chip's CPU cluster layout and clock speed ahead of MediaTek's expected launch in September.

The engineering versions of the Vivo X500 Pro Max Geekbench listing

The Geekbench identifier reveals an eight-core setup split across three clusters, headlined by a dual-prime-core design: two cores clocked at up to 4.55 GHz, three at up to 4.35 GHz, and three at a base frequency of 3.10 GHz. Notably, this particular run had the prime cores clocked down to just 2.8 GHz, well below the 4.55 GHz ceiling, so the scores from this listing don't reflect the chip's actual performance. That 2+3+3 arrangement matches leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station describing two "Canyon" cores (understood to be Arm's unannounced C2-Ultra), three "Gelas-B" cores, and three "Gelas" cores, with the latter name carried over from the C1-Pro cores in the Dimensity 9500. If accurate, it would be the first time MediaTek has used two ultra-large prime cores in a flagship Dimensity chip.

The listing also shows a GPU entry reading "Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12," which matches our previous report. Arm hasn't announced the G2 lineup of GPUs yet, but the recently launched XRing O3 has given us an idea of what this GPU may look like in an MC16 configuration. The NX naming suggests that the GPU's compute units include Arm's new neural accelerators, which are used for graphics upscaling and frame generation. Other fields show roughly 11 GB of usable RAM, suggesting that 12 GB is installed, as well as a "release-keys" signing status typical of pre-launch test units.

MediaTek has not confirmed the Dimensity 9600 Pro. Earlier leaks point to a TSMC N2P (2 nm) node, while Geekbench 6 estimates suggest scores of around 4,200–4,300 in single-core tests and 12,000–12,500 in multi-core tests for engineering samples. However, MediaTek's own pre-launch estimates have historically exceeded retail results. The Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to be among the first devices to ship with the chip when the series launches in September. As with all engineering-sample listings, core counts, clock speeds, and firmware details are subject to change before retail hardware ships.
