Wuben E2: New EDC flashlight and signal light costs just $20

Wuben has launched the new E2. This new EDC flashlight, lantern and signal light combo gadget is now available for $20, but the price might rise to $30 after the launch discount expires. With that out of the way, the light is very compact and can be used as a keychain light or worn around the neck with a chain. It can also be attached to clothing or a backpack. At around 0.4 oz, it is particularly lightweight.

In this configuration, the E2 can serve as a continuous signal light, emitting a dim, steady glow similar to a small lantern while on the move. This makes it easier to locate other members of a group in the dark. However, its maximum runtime of three hours at 10 lumens limits it to short nighttime outings. That is also rather brief for use as a tent light, so carrying a power bank would be advisable. At 80 lumens, the runtime drops to just 30 minutes.

There is also a flashing mode that presumably lasts longer. However, Wuben's spec sheet does not provide any runtime figures for it. The E2 offers three signal modes in total. As a flashlight, the E2 produces 150 lumens and has a range of 85 ft, which is roughly what can be expected from a small keychain flashlight. At 150 lumens, it runs for around one minute before dropping to 100 lumens for another 30 minutes. It lasts a full hour in the 50-lumen mode, while the 1-lumen setting extends the runtime to seven hours.

The E2 has a built-in battery that can be charged through a protected USB-C port. According to Wuben, the entire light is IP66-rated. Furthermore, the E2 also has a photoluminescent shell that continues to glow briefly after being exposed to light. A quick-release mechanism allows it to be detached from the chain or another mounting point. The back of the flashlight is magnetic as well.
