Vivo X500 Pro (Max) vs. Vivo X500: Two completely different Zeiss camera designs

Potentially four Zeiss-camera flagship models in at least three sizes. What was already hinted at by the IMEI database months ago is slowly taking shape. In a few weeks, Vivo is expected to unveil up to four new Zeiss-camera flagships, at least three of which are also expected to launch in global markets like India or Europe. From a technical standpoint, the most exciting models are the Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max. However, the base model, the Vivo X500, could prove to be the most sensible financial option. Last but not least, a Vivo X500e is also expected, at least in China.
According to Digital Chat Station, Vivo is covering a wide range of display sizes. While the Vivo X500 Pro, with its 6.37-inch display, will be the most compact model in the series this year, the new Vivo X500 Pro Max, with its 6.85-inch display, marks the other end of the size and camera prowess spectrum. The Vivo X500 base model will fall in between these two sizes, featuring a 6.59-inch display. The two Pro models will feature MediaTek’s latest 2nm chipsets from the Dimensity 9600 family, while the Vivo X500 will remain more affordable thanks to a 3nm Dimensity 9500 variant. All three displays will feature flat AMOLED panels with rounded corners; more significant differences are expected on the back.
Vivo X500 to come with different Zeiss camera design
What the leaker had hinted at can now be seen in three images currently circulating on Weibo. It is difficult for us to assess how authentic they are. Artifacts such as the heavily distorted Zeiss logo suggest, at the very least, AI upscaling. These could be prototypes or even pure AI fakes, but at least the two images of the Pro models are very close to what we saw last week with the real life spyshots from Australia. Accordingly, the Vivo X500 Pro (Max) retains the familiar Zeiss camera design with a centrally positioned, circular camera module.
The base X500 is expected to offer a slightly smaller, round camera on the left side of the back, according to both Digital Chat Station and one of the images below. We find this image particularly questionable, especially since there are two LED flashes visible, one in the round camera module itself and one on the camera platform to the right. The fourth camera in the upper right corner also makes no sense at all. In our opinion, these are pretty clear signs of an AI-generated fake. It’s also questionable whether Vivo would actually opt for a camera plateau specifically for the base X500 model, a design that Apple and apparently Samsung use for their Pro and Ultra models only.
