Garmin teases August global release for new rugged smartwatches with seawater resistance

Garmin has finally started hinting about the release of new smartwatches. For context, the Enduro 4, Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro have all appeared in leaks within the last few weeks. While the company has not addressed these directly, it has now confirmed the date of its next livestream.
As the video below shows, Garmin will host a ‘Play Harder’ livestream on August 25. Specifically, the event will commence at 11:00 UTC, albeit without a fixed runtime. However, if the launch of the Fenix 8 Pro is anything to go by (curr. $949 on Amazon), then next week’s livestream may only last 15 minutes or so.

At this stage, Garmin is giving nothing away about what it plans to unveil on August 25. Instead, it merely shows a surfer wearing some kind of wearable capable of withstanding extended exposure to seawater. Hence, we would expect the company to announce something with superior water resistance than recent Forerunner models like the Forerunner 570 or Forerunner 970. In that sense, a new Fenix or Enduro seems more probable at this stage.
In the meantime, a Czech retailer has been spotted listing the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro ahead of schedule. Incidentally, SkiAndBike have not mentioned the Enduro 4 or a new Fenix E yet. Please see our corresponding article for more details and Fenix 9 series pricing expectations.
