According to market analyst firm Canalys, Vivo was the only top-five smartphone maker to achieve double-digit year-over-year growth in the fourth quarter of 2024. This growth rate is twice as high as Xiaomi’s and came at the expense of Apple and Samsung, both of which lost market share during the same period. India is a particularly large growth market for Vivo smartphones, with Businessworld India reporting that this trend seemingly applies to the higher-priced flagship segment as well.
The magazine’s sources said the Vivo X200 Pro is practically sold out in the world’s most populous country. Thanks to the phone’s excellent sales figures, local Vivo executives are apparently urging the company to release both the Vivo X200 Ultra and Vivo X200 Pro Mini in India. However, this report hasn’t been confirmed yet and should be taken with a grain of salt, especially considering a senior Oppo manager recently stated that the Oppo Find X8 Ultra will not be released outside China.
Even if Vivo is contemplating releasing the Vivo X200 Ultra in India, it doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a global launch. Nevertheless, an international model would be a boon for Zeiss camera fans worldwide who are willing to import the phone, especially since it would feature both Android Auto and eSIM support, unlike most China-only models. In any case, the Vivo X200 Ultra might turn out to be the most intriguing camera flagship of the year, with current information suggesting that the device will boast three sensors of largely the same size, a dedicated 35 mm camera, the most light-sensitive 200 MP telephoto lens ever on a phone, and a long-awaited camera button. The Vivo X200 Ultra is set for an April launch in China.
